From Our President
“If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more – you are a leader.” John Quincy Adams spoke those prophetic words 200 years ago. They beautifully describe our close friend and extraordinary leader, Julien Lacourse, executive vice president of Market Basket, who passed away unexpectedly on March 22, 2007. Julie set the bar for all of us. His expertise and commitment earned him the highest level of respect in the industry. But, it was his values which set him apart and were admired by everyone. For those who had the honor to know and work with him, Julie’s compassion extended to whomever he touched. He nurtured relationships with Market Basket associates, vendors and brokers who called on him, community leaders who counted on him and family who depended on and cherished him. For Julie, success was defined by helping others to grow. He leaves behind a legacy of wisdom, dedication, loyalty and creativity. This coupled with his contagious passion for the business inspires us to carry on. Farewell Julie, we will never forget you. We were proud to call you friend.
